Imagine life as a game in which you are juggling some FIVE balls in the air. You name them work, family, health, friends, and spirit and you’re keeping all of these in the air. You will soon understand that work is a rubber ball. If you drop it, it will bounce back. But the other four balls – family, health, friends and spirit – are made of glass. If you drop one of these, they will be irrevocably scuffed, marked, nicked, damaged or even shattered. They will never be the same. You must understand that and strive for balance in your life. Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery and today is a gift, that’s why we call it the present.

My lazy Sunday began as a late night on Saturday. I’m a bit of a night owl and sometimes just hate to go to bed. I stayed up until around 4:30am finishing a book from the local library. When I awoke around 11am it was time to feed the cats. They are very demanding that way and will complain heartily if they are not fed at least semi-regularly. Next I spent some time reading a magazine and eating a breakfast bagel. Later I had my weekly trip to the local library for more reading material. Then after paying the bills I spent a bit of time on the web. Later tonight I plan on watching a bit of TV and perhaps going for a constitutional if the weather remains good.

It all started as fun while we were sitting and chatting organizing for a party that someone came up with an idea that “Why not for a difference we hold a hold a party having our pets also?” Everyone came up with their own ideas and finally it was agreed that the Halloween party would include the pets this year. It was all fun and a new thing to explore since the club had never had such a party before and this would be the first of its kind. I was actually overjoyed because I had a pet dog and kept it as a surprise and didn’t disclose about it to anyone in the family and after dinner when everyone was present I opened up the topic like I wanted best ideas for Halloween costumes for small dogs everyone looked at me with surprise. Then I told them that this year in the club they have decided to include pets as well in the party but someone has to be with the pet all through to ensure safety and immediately my elder son volunteered to do so. We all started planning each one gave different suggestions, finally it was agreed by all that we would stitch our Rover a Tiger dress with a mask also fully covering his face. We asked our family tailor to come and take the measurements, it was a real challenge getting a cloth like a tiger skin but we managed to get and at last the tailor delivered the dress. Immediately all assembled and we ran a trail trying Rover on to his Halloween costume. The dress fitted him perfectly well but he didn’t allow us to put the mask on that itself was tiring task and we thought it would go off waste without the mask, we bribed Rover by giving him a chocolate when he allowed us to put the mask and this worked to an extent we did the same for the next two three days and gave him chocolate as soon as he allowed to do so. Finally on the day of the party we took him in the car with the dress on except of the mask and put the mask on him just before we got down from the car and gave his chocolate and it was fun seeing everybody bring different pets with different costumes and finally there was a surprise gift for the best dressed Halloween pet, guess who got it, it was Rover of course because it was he who had worn the mask for the longest time of 18 minutes and of course 5 minutes once a chocolate was given to him and thus the bagged the gift. We were very happy that he got the prize.

I like to read. I average about fifteen books a week, even with college going on. I also like to drive in the car listening to the radio with the windows down. I can combine these two things because the nearest Barnes & Noble’s is a fair drive away from my house so on the weekends, if I have the gas, I’ll take the car on a slow drive to Barnes & Nobles. Using the scenic route, of course; using the highway would end it all too soon. Right now it’s perfect driving season. The days are warm, but not hot, sunny and rarely cloudy, and the leaves are starting to change. So for the next several weekends I’ll be doing my two favorite things; reading, and driving.
