Now that I live almost 1300 miles away from my friends and close family, getting to see them all again was wonderful. Most important was the time I was able to spend with my mom. I never had a great relationship with her up until about the last 2 years. During those 2 years I have lived away from home and have only seen her a handful of times a year. We spent afternoons together having lunch, shopping, and most importantly, talking about our lives. She is in a relationship for the first time in 15 years with a wonderful man and it was great to see how happy she has become. I was so thankful to be able to spend most of my time with her over the holiday.

I will be so proud to be able to call him my husband. My wedding plans have been slightly chaotic but I know all of the hassles will be worth it when I go to bed that night with my husband. More than just the wedding, I am excited to spend this year with him. I am excited to meet all of his friends and family. I’m excited to introduce him to the people who are important in my life. Every weekend we try to plan something fun to do, and it is yet to disappoint. There is so much more we have planned, I can’t wait! I am also looking forward to a more financially stable year, getting my career on track and maybe towards the end of the year thinking about starting our family.

What I liked best was the chance to meet someone so amazing and special to me, my now fiance. I had numerous difficult relationships prior to meeting him. Nothing ever felt right when I was with someone. The moment I met him I knew I wanted to be with him. A few weeks later I was sure I would spend the rest of my life with him if he would have me. The hard parts of 2010 were financial. It was the first year I was completely independent and on my own. The struggles were much more intense and real than I had imagined. Now that the year is over, I feel stronger and wiser for making it through all of the hurdles I faced throughout the year.
